Oct 30, 2025 - FASSelangor FC advanced to the 2025/26 FA Cup Semi-Finals after securing a 6-3 aggregate victory over Negeri Sembilan FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, yesterday.
The second leg of the 2025/26 FA Cup Quarter-Finals saw an exciting start, with Harith Samsuri’s opening goal in the 12th minute, before Nyanasegar Jaavabilaarivin added to The Jangs’ tally in the 27th minute. Before the end of the first half, Willian Lira scored his first goal for the Red and Yellows in the 42nd minute, ensuring the team remained ahead on aggregate.
The second half was more intense, with both teams trading attacks. Mio Tsuneyasu found a scoring opportunity in the 80th minute, putting Negeri Sembilan FC in front. However, seven minutes later, team captain Faisal Halim added a goal, making the Red Giants’ aggregate score 6-3, thus ensuring the team qualified for the Semi-Finals despite losing 2–3 on the night.
According to Selangor FC Head Coach Christophe Gamel, he expressed his happiness at advancing to the Semi-Finals but emphasised the need for consistency from the team.
“We knew it would be a tough match because they came here with the same mission, which is to advance to the next round and as we saw yesterday, this was a real Cup match. I took a lot of risks yesterday, one of which was to reshuffle the line-up, especially after losing two players. This certainly affected consistency, something that takes time, rhythm, and continuity throughout the process,” he explained.
“Overall, the players performed quite well, although I was a bit disappointed with the first goal we conceded, as it happened just a few seconds after we almost scored ourselves. However, yesterday’s match gave the young players valuable experience and will help the team prepare for the next match. At the same time, this process is also for the good of the club and the team,” he added.
Next, Selangor FC will travel to Bumi Di Bawah Bayu (The Land Below the Wind) for the 2025/26 Super League competition to face Sabah FC at the Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu, at 7:30 p.m.
The Selangor FC management would like to thank the 7,517 fans who hyped up the second leg of the 2025/26 FA Cup Quarter-Finals at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, yesterday, and hope that no serious injuries affected anyone.
